LEGACY

Located in the heart of Bucharest along the street bearing the same name, Lascăr 31 Business Center has established itself as a financial and cultural institution in the city. The building’s name honours Vasile Lascăr, a political visionary remembered as the Father of the Romanian Police.

HISTORY

Vasile Lascăr’s reforms to the police system were a crucial step in transforming Romania into a modern, European state. Following Lascăr’s education at the Sorbonne, he toured Europe and observed the best police systems of his day. Inspired by what he had seen while traveling, Lascăr introduced legislation that standardized the organization of the police and their powers; he also ordered the establishment of the first police academy in the country. Today, a monument to Vasile Lascăr stands in the square just outside the building.

IDENTITY

Lascăr 31’s identity revolves around its logo: a stylized eagle in the form of the letter V, paying homage to Vasile Lascăr. A modern interpretation of the police’s coat of arms, the eagle represents the values of social justice and equality. The brand is defined by the revival of tradition, simultaneously conveying a sense of reliability and modernity. Lascăr 31’s visual identity has been internationally recognized, winning the 2020 German Design Award and receiving an Honorable Mention for the C2A Creative Communication Award.
